Sensei Ennio Anselmi, 5th Dan, began his training in 1983 with Sensei Alan Murdoch in Dandenong, Victoria.

Sensei Ennio competed in kumite for a number of years in state, national and international levels. He represented Victoria from 1985 to 1998 with achieving high results. In 1987 and 1989 respectively, he was chosen to represent Australia in 2 Shukokai World Championships placing 4th in his individual event and 4th in the Men’s Team Event.

For a number of years Sensei Ennio has participated in many courses and training seminars to improve techniques and training drills. The knowledge gained has been directly implemented with his students. Sensei Ennio has trained with World Known coaches such as; Sensei Kimura; Sensei Eddie Daniels; Sensei Antonio Oliver and Top world champions such as Wayne Otto, Junior Le Ferve and Tony Hails.

Sensei Allan graded Sensei Ennio as per the following:

  • 1st Dan in 1987
  • 2nd Dan in 1989
  • 3rd Dan in 2000
  • 4th Dan in 2003
  • 5th Dan in 2006

After the passing of Sensei Kimura, Sensei Alan joined Sensei Tommy Morris from 1995 til the end of 2000. They both worked together to find ways to improve their style.

After competing for numerous years, Sensei Ennio wanted to concentrate in teaching, coaching and mentoring athletes. In 1996 he started to run a few classes per week helping Sensei Alan at the club.

In 1998, Sensei Ennio was chosen to be part of the Victorian State Coaching panel where he is still coaching today. He has coached a number of athletes to become National Champions along side with Sensei Alan. In 2000, he was chosen to be part of the Australian Coaching Panel. He was successful in having a number of students being selected in the state and national teams. Sensei Ennio coached his students to compete successfully in State, National and International levels.

Sensei Alan passed away at the end of 2006, after being the Chief Instructor and the Father of Australian Shukokai for more then 30 years; he passed on reigns to Sensei Ennio to continue with his legacy. Sensei Ennio continues teaching and coaching for the club, students and for Sensei Alan with all the support from his family, students, and especially his co instructors Christina Anselmi, Aurelia Tremayne and Wayne Lindsey.

With the sad lost of his mentor, Sensei Ennio wanted a solid path for the future of Shukokai; he decided to return to the origins of the style. Australian Shukokai karate dojo is affiliated with Japan under Master Yamada.
